Andrew began studying the piano accordion from an early age, before taking up the highland bagpipe whilst serving with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Achieving the rank of pipe sergeant and completing his Pipe Majors Course at Edinburgh Castle, Andrew went on to tour extensively throughout Europe, Scandinavia, North America and Australia with the band, as well as competing at most of the major competitions throughout Scotland. He currently performs on both the concert and competition
platform with the piano accordion and highland bagpipe. His debut album, The Power and The Passion, was released in 2004 on the Shielburn record label.

Successes to date include winner of the All Scotland Senior Accordion (Pipe
Section) Championships in Perth and the Senior Accordion at the National Mod.

The talented musician spends much of his time teaching both bagpipes
(highland, border and Scottish smallpipe) and piano accordion. He has
taught for local authorities and community organisations in
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. Currently tutoring the piano
accordion for the ALP Scots Music Group in Edinburgh.

In addition to his Pipe Major’s certificate Andrew holds a Graduate and Senior Teacher’s certificate with the Institute of Piping and a Diploma in Music from the London College of Music and Media.

Andrew’s passionate and expressive playing, complimented by his warm and relaxed stage presence combine to produce an enriching and enjoyable performance.
